See the entire discussion: Bush's accusations - "Axis of Evil".
I myself come from Iran, and I think it's ridiculous that my country is harboring terrorists. In a recent speech, President Bush accused Iran of sending weapons to Palestine, allowing Al-Qada to escape across the Iranian border, and of developing Nuclear Weapons.
I really didn't like his tone, and [I feel] these accusations are all false...
[I don't think that] Iran allows Al-Qada and Taliban to take refuge in Iran. Why would our government harbor them after what happened a year or two ago: The Taliban beheaded 12 Iranian diplomats and sent their heads back to the Iranian government, just because of the same Sunni vs Shie issue, that's been going on for some many years now. Why would the Iranian government protect their enemies?
And finally, the accusation that Iran is developing Nuclear Weapons. The Iranian government is developing Nuclear POWER ... The US allowed such countries as India or Pakistan to develop nuclear power, but when it comes to Iran, they say no.

Very very interesting post there Mehdi. I had some idea of why Iraq waz being accused, and kind of support Bush in his accusations there. However, I had no idea about why Iran waz being accused. Your post is very enlightening and gives me some stuff to work with as I research the issue.
I don't know about North Korea just yet, but Iraq seems to have nuclear weapons and bio-weapons stashed away. Also, Mr. Huessien has shown in the past that he ain't a very nice leader. I read somewhere that there are roughly 2 million people in Iraq that don't like his leadership and would like his government to topple. Why are 2 million peope afraid to fight? They outnumber his regimes army.
What do you think about North Korea and Iraq Medhi?
...punch and pie
I agree with you, Medhi. Even though I live in America (and do agree with the Iraq problem) I do not think that Bush's "Axis of Evil" has any merit. I think attacking these people (he already has verbally) is making things worse. You can't just say [those countires harbor] terrorists that might want to hurt us (I wonder why ... could it be America's killing their families?) because there are people like that everywhere. I think that he is now trying to make up for the administration's obvious lack of security before the 9.11 attacks. Making rash decisions won't help though .
Hey all...
Bush is trying to intimidate the countries mentioned in the "Axis of Evil" into complying with his requests of info on terrorists. He's using political power to enforce is ideals instead of violence. The bottom line is: with Korea is a threat. Iraq is a threat Iran is a threat. The bottom line with the US is that we are going to prevent those threats from becoming a MAJOR threat.

I agree that we are trying to prevent threats from becoming bigger threats. The point is we should be ready for anything at all, and we aren’t as invincible as we have grown to believe. If we don’t, we will be too busy to take the precautions that need to be taken. ~~~~~amber~~~~~
The problem with Bush is that this a very bad time for a crisis like this to break out, because when his father was the president during the war between Iraq and Iran, and to be blunt, he screwed up badly.
A former head of the CIA has recently written a book in which he admits to putting the Taliban in power to keep Muslims in check. He explains how the CIA was researching on Muslim countries, their affairs, and their population, and they've seen that during Muslim holidays, people from all over the world come together and that this is a "terrifying" force.
And during the Gulf War, the US government waited until both Iran's and Iraq's forces were all out and then stepped in. This thereby cause an immense fall back for Iran. I'm really sorry to say this, but Iran primarily lives on the money brought in through our oil. That's it, all of our savings and people were lost at the hands of the war.

I thought that Bush's statements of naming Iraq, Iran, and N. Korea part of an "Axis of Evil," was a very dangerous move. What if those 3 countries team up together along with other terrorist groups?? They could destabalize the United States of America and split us up like the Soviet Union.
I don't see N. Korea that much of a threat to be considered part of an "Axis of Evil" although they do support terrorism. Countries like Libya and Syria are just as much as a threat as N. Korea are, because they have nothing to lose if they were to commit some act of terrorism against the US. I think Iraq and Iran are definitely possible enemies because they both hate the US and they both lie about hiding weapons of mass destruction and biological and chemical weapons.
See ya,
