[demo] Right after September 11th, there was a newfound bipartisanship in all political arenas. Bush has been evolved from a guy who can't speak into a true leader, according to the public eye. Guiliani just got knighted and named Man of The Year by Time for his reaction to the attacks. What do you think about all this political change and is it real or just a ploy?

[demo] Any attack on a countries soil will always unite politicians that in normal circumstances would be fighting each other. I must agree that 9.11 did indeed transform Bush from a good-for-nothing president to a iron-fisted warrior (of course none of that changed his ongoing speech errors). It also glorified Guiliani in the eyes of New Yorkers as well as many other people nationally and globally. From an unfaithful husband to a member of Arthur's round table. Another influence these events had on American political life was that they casted a forgetting spell on the minds of Americans, especially Democrats, about the 2000 election. Bush enjoys a very high popularity rate right now. Numbers close to that of his father during the Gulf War. Yet politics will always stay politics. Yes the Democrats embraced war on Afghanistan. and the many other bold actions the Bush administration took afterwards (lets not forget the warm embraces between the senate majority leader and the president), yet Bush will lose momentum once he strays out of the path. That was seen after his SUA. Bush will stay Bush and the rest as well, lets not forget in couple of months many of these politicians are running for re-election. What better way of ensuring a victory if one seems to be with the nation in its "war" against terrorism and Enron?

[demo] I would like to definitely add that the 9/11 attack did bring the nations political leaders together. The line that separated Democrats from the Republicans was somewhat blurred. The effort to rebuild from this incredible tragedy needed the teamwork of our political leaders. For years, our nation have been divided by the party lines - this division did not help us but hindered us from reaching greatness.
How long will this last? I do not know... it all depends on this saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" And is the friendship based on a surface level or does it go deeper! Only time can decide.

[demo] I think this political change as with many of the events that happened after that day are only temperary. Although politicians may seem the greatest of allies at the moment it will only be a matter of time before another issue is brought to light that creates a divide in our government.

[demo] While this does seem interesting, I feel that this might not be the case. As a result of political decisions we have created a world that is intolerable to change. You are either with us, or you are against us. You either fix the problem or you ARE the problem.
I feel this is the stance of many politicians today. And as a method it seems to be working. Patriotism caused as a result, is what has led to further developement such as the CUNY tuition hikes. (k123nino opinion)
