[demo] As a Muslim I wonder why other Muslims are being attacked although they have nothing to do with the attacks.

[demo] What do you all think about this? I am a Muslim, and I don't understand why other Muslims as a group are being attacked. The religion has nothing to do with the 9.11 attacks! Is it because people in America don't understand that it's a huge religion that a lot of people around the world believe in? I don't get it.

[demo] I don't understand what makes people think that because one person (or small group of individuals) did something, all people associated with them must also be capable of doing the same thing. This, I believe, is how stereotypes begin. For example, just because Hitler was an Austrian, does it mean ALL Austrians think like him? No. People have to realize that one person's idea or action does not equal a whole population of people.

[demo] I agree with Jpop. People have commented about how I could be against the war. Luckily, that wasn't the case most of the time-most of the communities I am in agree or at least support me.
In terms of the question about Muslims, I think the way people are acting is disgusting and abhorrent. I live in a largely Afghani/Pakistani neighborhood and to see the way it has been affected makes me feel so badly. One of the lessons Americans (and many other people) should of learned after Sept. 11th is tolerance (from all sides of the spectrum) and so far there has been no sign that the country as a whole has practiced that.

[demo] It just seems like people want someone to blame, even if what they are doing isn't necessarily right. Other people just don't seem to think about the circumstances, and how they are effecting others about what they say or do daily. If people would just take a moment of their lives to think before they take any action it would be a step forward in life.

[demo] people are afraid and i think that's the bottom line. and fear breeds in ignorance.i mean the police were stopping taxis and any other cars where the drivers looked 'suspicious'. seriously what is up with that? haven't we learned anything about racial profiling over the years. we had people complaining just a year agao about how wrong racial profiling is and how it needs to stop and then 9.11 happens and some of those same people are doing the exact same thing they didn't want to happen to them- to other people. our country has done this to groups for our history. remember what happened after WWII- japanese americans were put in camps because they were seen as a threat. i have a friend who agrees with this profiling because she feels her life is in danger and if violating some people's rights to protect her own is necessary- then so be it. i don't agree. if i want freedom for some- i want freedom for all. if i wanted justice in the past- i want it for today and tomorrow too.
