I ran across this article while reading the news. I found it on Rueters and CNN.
Pentagon to Prepare Nuclear Weapons, Report Says
I had no idea the U.S. would be stupid enough to even consider using nuclear weapons. So, my question to the board is do you feel like there is any circumstance we could justify using nukes again?

It is just that they found that the Pentagon is making CONTIGENCY plans. This is something that America has been doing for over 30 years. The information leaked out somehow, but it is not new news. However, if they ever did use a nuclear bomb it would be very hard to justify, unless it is to Iraq, because we are threatened by them because they are building weapons of mass destruction. I am sure too that if the US ever uses the nuclear bomb again it will be very much supported because they wouldn't unless it could be justified.
over 3000 people dead in one day here is justification enough?

nuclear war fare could easily cause millions of deaths. Does 3,000 American deaths justify that? Are we somehow better than other nations? Are our lives worth more?
Over 3,000 dead justifies nothing in my book. Like someone in another post said:
"An eye for an eye just leaves everyone blind."
Can't we all just get along?

They are planning it. That is more than enough to worry me. Nuclear war fare is not pretty and should not be taken so lightly.

It worries me too, but I know that every government has contigency plans so it is not anything unusual.
I think we should do away with it all togeather.
I think that using the nuclear weapons in most cases will be horilbe and lead to some really bad stuff. If we use nuclear weapons against anyone then they will have a justified resons to use them, and i enjoy my life with out that thank you. plus, with so many countries being attacked by our gov and our media (axis of evil for example) they could ally themselves and retalliate together or fear being attacked too and take their own independent actions.
as for doing away with it all together, i do not think it is possilbe because no matter what people say it doesnt mean they realy will get rid of theirs.
And the eye for an eye thing is right (i even might have said it). Just becuase innocent peopl died in america doesnt mean innocent people from other places should die too. If we used nukes to attack any place we would wipe out the government and the people (who might have nothing to do with the terror) will be killed
I know how bad you feel but do you want to force other people to feel the same emotions (regarding the 3000 people died thing).
Nuclear bombing is a touchy subject...it's nice to have, but not nice when in actual use. The death of 3,000 people is terrible, but does not justify the death of millions. Not only that, it's been pointed out that we're not the only country with nukes and that would be a big blemish to be the country that started WW Nuke.
