I was wondering, especially for an outside NYC perspective, what do people think about the reluctance to give the $20 billion Bush promised the city. After being so quick to give the airlines $15 billion cash, what do people think about the hold up for NYC? Is it discussed outside of the 5 boros anyway?

I think what happened in New York needs to always be remembered. It also needs money so that it can be rebuilt. What happened was a terrible tragedy, but there has been other minor tragedies in America. Those others tragedy's although maybe drastically smaller have still been terrible. The people affected by those things have never received the amount of money that the people in NYC will and have. I think it is important for money to be given to NYC, but I understand the delay.
I don't think that people who lost reletives deserve the $300,000 that they will get. As Lindsay put it, other people die in horrible events too and their benefitiaries don't recieve any $.
I think that NYC as a whole does deserve to get its $ quickly though. We are about to go through a drought and the city budget is in shambles. All economic aspects of NYC have been hurt by what happened and the city budget in particular. i don't think bush will deliver on his promise or $20 billion, but I think it is necassary that he does. it seems unfair that my school is having severe budget cuts because my city was attacked. And it seems really unfair and horrible that the homeless population in NYC is higher than ever due in large part to the attacks.
