Ok I know the title is obnoxious but thats the simplest way of putting the Bush administration's new crazy idea of going against Saddam next. Ok yea i know i am sounding like a big Saddam Hussein fan but I aynt. The reason America shouldnt attack Iraq isnt for Iraq's sake but rather for America's sake. Why? Well does America have a good image in the world these days? NO. Do many Europeans agree with American policies on different issues? NO. Do people in the Muslim world like what America is doing? HEll NO. Do people in the Muslim world want an end to the cycle of violence in Israel and Palestine? HELL YES. SO by going after Saddam and TRYING to get rid of one of the "evil" ones America will only further ruin it's own not-that-angelic face. Cheney is going around trying to get support, but he isnt getting it, and believe me he wont. America must not take a bite larger than its mouth. Fighting terrorism takes more than a couple of F-16s and horsemen using satelite phones; rather it takes strong allies and supporters from all over the world.

I agree. I think we also need to end the embargo. It has killed an estimated half million children by starvation, lack of sanitation and medication for very curable diseases. That's outrageous. Quality-of-life things (such as combs;dolls, ect) are restricted to the Iraqi people because they might be made into weapons. Why should the people of Iraq suffer because they have a dictator?
If the point of the embargo is to hurt Hussien's dictatorship, it isn't working and I highly doubt it ever will. So why do it? So far it has only made Sadaam stronger and I think it will continue to do so, because as long as he can point to the US and say to the Iraqi people "Here's why you are starving and I'm one of their worst enemies", (which is true) he will get a larger support base from the Iraqi people.
The food-for-fuel program is clearly not working and is only making Sadaam richer. It needs to be discontinued and the embargo needs to be lifted immeadetly
