Hey! I'm really interested in what everyone is thinking about the situation in Israel right now. I don't know that I have anything huge or extremely insightful to start a conversation, but since it is something that I am interested in... maybe someone else has something to say about it...

Something that people might be interested in, to do with Israel and the past week, is why Arafat didnŐt go to the Arab league conference when Israel let him go.
The reason, though not reported on CNN, was that the agreement said that if an attack took place against Israel while Arafat was away, that he would not be let back in.
The reason that CNN didnŐt report this was that it is owned by a company that owns General Electric, which makes engines, weapons etc. So it is in CNNs' best interests to foster a lack of understanding in America, so that we continue to sell weapons to Israel along with 6 billion dollars a year.
You wanted something on Israel, chew on that!

a.j You have to read up on your history of the place. Here is a site I recommend http://www.eretzyisroel.org/~jkatz/ You probably want to read mostly about the modern (1900- now) history. This should give you a clearer idea of why this is all going on.

From what I read Yasser Arafat was injured in one skiff recently and is in poor health. They have a deathwatch going on for the man on one site.
