I dont know if you guys have already heard about this or not but www.raisethefist.com is an anarchist website run by a guy named Sherman. Apparently this website was monitored by the government for awhile and the FBI raided Sherman's house just because he had the website. Not only is this TOTALLY unconstitutional but it's also legal! Due to Bush's new patriot act, this is totally justified from what the government says. Sherman was released from prison about a month later...and he was never even charged at any point. I find this to be quite messed up...what happened to the "land of the free"?

Amanda u r so right first they never told him 2 stop the web site + they never charged him at that point they should had let him go but they did he should sue.
keisha.
And also the fact that we are supposed to have freedom of speech in this country and so they would have no ground on which to tell him to stop the website in the first place. He is going to sue though I believe...there's a thing on his site about legal funds so yeah, thats what I'm assuming.

i think what is even more frightening in the long run is that this particular case was not even huge news. such a flagrant abuse of our rights should be all over the front page of every newspaper. it just goes to show you how well the corporate media hides everything that doesn't serve its interests.

what anarcho-commie chris said is true. remember the phrase "does not meet our needs at this time"? a few months ago there was a HUGE protest nearby with teens protesting a curfew. It involved hundreds of kids, with police getting attacked, and fliers and noise and candy-throwing that left wrappers and paper littering the ground for weeks to come. I looked all across the paper for something on it. NOTHING. Why won't the press write about something that's meant to bring attention specifically to an important cause?
