so I'm curious as to what every ones ideas as far as the military is concerned. was it used effectively? should it have been used less or more? and what should its future goals be? stuff like that, or whatever really.
i think currently we are using our military as affectively as it is possible. however i think the presidents war on terrorism is going to like the war on drugs, so general and broad that they will try to do so much at once they really won't get much done in the end. i realize the neccesity of retaliating against those who attack us, but i think our role as "globocop" has become too much. we have spread our military power into far too many countries, often times neglecting our own. in the future we should attempt to downsize the military as well as our oversized federal government. i think the only role of the government should be to protect the people, and while that is a nice thought...it is an unrealistic goal i suppose...
um, i'm a pacifist and against the war in general. i also think that this war is going to be like vietnam - we're fighting for an idea, and we won't know when we've won, because we can't. they only way to really "win" is to completely wipe out terrorists - not a real tangible idea, huh?
The terrorists...they're not all Afgahns, they're not all Middle Easterners, they're not all even in Eurasia. Terrorists are all over the place and there is NO way we can even hope to end terrorism. I mean think about the Oklahoma City Bombing...that was done by an American - are we going to bomb America now??
