today, I was reading the messages they post on this site when my boyfriend saw something on one of the topics in group 9:
"But I think everyone has just been nicer and more giving and definitely more patriotic."
He said, "I completely hate my country and want to burn some flags. If everyone's become MORE patriotic than they were before 911, then what would *I* have to be like before 911?"
so, what do you think? if a person is completely anti-America, would it be possible to be even more anti-America eight months ago? is every1 less UNpatriotic?
Not everyone became more patriotic, just rhe ones that the media makes visable. I became less patriotic if anything...I realized how our nation can bully others persay and such and I began to research more about the government and its actions.

yeah, just because some people put flags up doesn't mean there weren't also a majority of people who DIDN'T have a flag up. when it comes down to patriotic or unpatriotic (in absolute terms, not as compared with before) there are a LOT of unpatriotic people. maybe I became less patriotic, my boyfriend (Jamie) is certainly sure he didn't become any MORE patriotic.
I remember seeing a topic featured on how people who were unpatriotic could start hating their country even MORE (even more vigorously) because they see so many patriotic people around them who are claiming to love the country and the flag without any good reasoning around it. some of them are doing it just to conform.
at school we don't seem to have any trouble with being patriotic. it's actually only a few of the kids who bought their own flags or add flags on to them and don't question the government. of course maybe that's just youth as opposed to older people but i agree media didn't give a fair representation to the americans who were hating their country or who made a point of NOT owning a flag.
