Have you ever seen that show "A Walk In Your Shoes" on Noggin? It also comes on Nickelodeon sometimes. For those of you who haven't seen it, it's a show for kids and teens that takes two people (usually) and switches have them switch places for a day. It's sort of like that MTV show Flipped, which more of you may be familiar with.
Anyway, there was one episode of "A Walk In Your Shoes" where they took a Caucasian girl of Protestant faith, and sent her to spend a couple of days with an Arabic family of Islamic faith. I found this to be very interesting. I know some things about the Muslim religion because I have close friends who are Muslim. So I know that it is very peaceful and that it doesn't teach violence, etc.
But watching this show answered a lot of questions. They explain why the woman and girls cover their head and sometimes faces. I didn't find it oppressive at all after hearing that it was more out of respect than anything.
I could go into a lot more detail, but I really think you should try to catch it for yourself. It may air on Nickelodeon again at some point. And really, if you get a chance to view either of these programs, please watch them. They are very interesting.
i don't have cable, but that does sound like an interesting topic, though.
I haven't seen the show you are talkng about on Noggin but I have seen Flipped on MTV. I think Flipped and the show you are talking about are good shows for people who don't know much about the other person's "world" or if they've been making fun of a certain group, or whatever.

Yes, I have seen the show. I really enjoy it, and that episode was one of my favorites. I think that it is a great show because it is a great learning tool and it is really interesting. Seems like fun and learning and respect all in one! :)
I don't cable or any thing else except the networks, but I think the concept is good. I basically agree with the people above. I could rewrite it, but I don't see the point especially if I haven't seen either of the shows.
like freek and papermonky i dont have cable either, and it does sound very interesting. my friends have talked about it before and i'm gonna try at some point to get over 2 one of their houses to c it.
