Where do you get your news? Why? How many sources do you get your daily news from? Do you prefer TV, magazines, the Internet, the radio, your Mom, etc. Do you trust this source? Is there something special about this source? Any suggestions? You get the idea.

In the morning I go to cnn.com, and watch CNN headline news. In the evening I watch NBC nightly news. I like CNN because it has a lot of information, and is easy to access. I trust CNN and NBC (along with ABC) because I believe that they have lots of good jounalists (eg Christiane Amanpour) and do lots of investigation before broadcasting.

I personally get news many many sources. I go to CNN, BBC, NBC, TIME, Newsweek (affiliated with NBC), ABC. I read opinion pieces on many different web sites.

I prefer getting news over the internet rather then TV. I like to read the news so that I can read in between the lines and see what things are being left to vague. Hearing stuff from a talking head doesn't give me time to pour over what is being said.

...punch and pie

Okay, okay. I know that you guys will probably disagree with me on this, but here goes. While I do watch local news and television shows like "60 Minutes," "20/20," and "Dateline," I find that MTV news is more consciously helpful. MTV news makes the effort to get both sides of the story.

While the news shows are interviewing the "bad guys," MTV is interviewing the people. The citizens of Afghanistan. I think that it's really interesting to hear what kids (and teens) in Afghanistan have to say.

And contrary to what many people think, the people of Afghanistan welcomed American troops. Those who were interviewed by MTV shared that they were pleased to have the U.S. troops there and that they are happy to have anyone who can help them to escape the oppression they were experiencing. They wanted so badly to be able to receive an education, and Americans offered hope.

Sometimes, the regular news tries to use propaganda to make the "enemy" appear heartless and cold. But so many times, we forget that the enemy here, is not a country, but a group of people.

I'll read anything I'll listen to anything but some things with a more critical eye than others. I can't really stand CNN, or MSNBC or the local news channels. I stopped watching TV actually. I get a lot of news from the Internet. Like the New York Times is a great source. It's a respected source. Though it's biased and full of all kinds of omissions and all. It's mainstream and it has you know, information in it. I also get my news from a site called Alternet I really recommend that everyone visit it just to check it out. It gives an alternative view as it's name implies. I also listen to the radio. BBC on the radio or on the Internet is great cuz it's more global. Also on the radio in the US there is a network of stations called Pacifica. They have a station in NY called WBAI it's pretty great. There's a show on there called Democracy Now which is pretty excellent. They have a site called Democracy Now I suggest you all visit it also. They have an archive there where you can listen to old shows. It will freak you out to watch CNN and then to go to a site like AlterNet. OH OH! And there is this great site called FAIR. FAIR is an acronym for Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting. If you don't go to all the other sites go to this one. It'll give you a more objective view of the media than the media itself :) Let me know if you see or read anything interesting or um enraging. Enjoy!

Dear board,

My favorite news source would have to be the FOX news channel. There awesome, they always have the lastest and most up-to date news, and they're exciting to watch. CNN us too boring for some reason, it just seems like news for old people. GO FOX NEWS!!

See ya,

Josh
