I think teachers make to much of a big deal out of being late. They take away class time when people are coming in late because usually they give out detentions or whatever they do. But i think as long as they don't disrupt the rest of the class the teachers should just ignore the lateness. There only punishing themselves by missing part of class. And i know they will need to be responsible in the future for being on time but i think we're old enough to figure out what's right and what's wrong.
Well, I disagree with you dreamchick. Like you said we should be able at this age to figure out what's right or wrong, and therefore realize simply that we can't be late to class. It's as simple as that. For, if those types of little irresponsible acts are not being acted upon, then one would be able to argue and say how oh his/her term paper isn't finished on the due date, but oh that doesn't matter if it's a day late since they realize that they've done something wrong. No, because we all very well know that once something is done there is a very good probability for the same behavior to be repeated. I am sorry dreamchick if I came on hard, but like you said we are old enough to realize some things, and being able to come on time to class is really not rocket science. It's the most simple responsibility of one's day at school. Thanks all for reading, bye

Tamara i agree with u that being responsible is important. but in high school people should know better i feel. People who are late to my classes get punished for it, but there always still late. I feel it's there fault. and plus there not learing from there mistake of being late then. well i guess that's my opinion.
My history teacher last year always gave the same line about being late. He said that in wall street (and other jobs) being late is looked very down upon and can cause you to be fired. I mean I know there are legitimate reasons for being late but in all honesty I think High school is just trying to teach you a lesson that you shouldn't be late but on the other hand the teacher should not lecture every time someone is.
