i personally don't think abortion is right. I believe that if you get pregnant, and it was a mistake, why punish a innocent child? my opinion is that if i ever made a mistake i would give the kid up for adoption inleast. because im figuring im only 17 yrs old, and i couldn't support the kid. so it would be better off with someone else who could provide for him/her. But i don't think punishing the kid is right. i believe that, unless the mother and baby somehow would die or some kind of senario where the only way for the mother to live is by abortion then, maybe. but to me it's like killing an innocent child.

I am pro-choice. A woman has the right to choose what to do with her body. In the cases of rape, incest, or medical harm to the mother it is necessaRy because those are not "mistakes". The debatable part about abortion is when do you consider the fetus a person. I agree with being able to have it within the first tri-mester. It is not an easy decision to get an abortion and I don't think the women who go through with it go "whoops got pregnant ok that means tomorrow between my hair appointment and shopping I'll stop by the clinic" These women give it a lot of thought. What I really become upset about are those people who bomb such clinics, harrass the patients, and pose death threats to the doctors. If you're pro-life why would you kill someone else?

I totally believe that it is wrong to have an abortion, but I will condemn the person wo decides to have one. I agree, why punish an innocent child? There are still other options than having an abortion, adoption. There are many couples out there who want a child, but cannot have one. Why not give up the child to a home that will take care of him/her?

I beleive that it is wrong to have an abortion. Even though the baby isn't born yet, he/she still has a whole life ahead of them. I think that, even before a child is born, there is some kind of a plan set out for them, that says what kind of troubles they will have in life, what good things they will do, everything. When women have an abortion, that whole plan is ruined. I agree that you shouldn't punish and innocent child like that. Probably the only reason a woman should do that is if, like MacSuxHansonRules says, she has been a victim of rape or incest or something like that.

If one has sex, then they have to be ready as well to pay the consequences of their actions. The kid shouldn't be the one suffering from their carelessness or incapability to handle the responsibility. Yeah I totally agree with Dancestar that even if you don't want that kid, you should do a much more humane act like giving it up for adoption into a loving family; rather then doing a surgery to commit a "murder" in my words. Yeah I know, it sound harsh, but truly that's what it is when it comes right down to it. For, that baby wasn't given a choice to die or live, instead another person did that without their consent. At least what that child deserves is a fair chance to live and experience life. Thanks, bye

Well it seems as though th overall opinion is that abortion is bad. I am just wondering what would you think of someone who has had an abortion?

There seems to be a lot of negativity out there towards abortions...
Myself, I believe that it's up to the mother to decide. I myself have nothing really agains abortions. It's DEFINITELY nothing to be taken lightly, but I would never condemn someone for having one. If there were one of those rallies in front of an abortion clinic, I would probably be standing next to the doctors and nurses, supporting them.
Some people say that if someone is having sex, they should be prepared to pay the consequences of their actions. What if the person has no intention of having a baby? They can practice safe sex, use condoms or other contraceptive methods, but sometimes accidents happen. And when this does, the parents sometimes just can't have the child, and I can't hold it against them for getting an abortion.
Some people say, "why don't they put it up for adoption?" Well, one thing is that adoption is an extremely difficult process. Yes, there are some people out there who want a child, but not nearly as many as there are children needing homes. Also, even having a child for a short while before adoption can mess up the entire lives of the parents. Mothers may drop out of school while they are pregnant, and in many cases they may never make it back. Their entire lives may be ruined for one mistake that was beyond their control.
I know, it's a messy topic. I know, abortions aren't the greatest choice. But if my sixteen year old friend gets pregnant, I would stand by her whatever choice she decides.

has anyone ever seen a sonogram? have you ever seen an unborn child holding up its hand in wonderment at the fact that it 'knows' it has a hand? First of all, two wrongs don't make a right (by that i mean that premarital sex is wrong to begin with...abortion on top of that is even worse) Premartal sex is a whole topic alltogether...
Abortion and birth control deprives life (or if I must be politically correct--) the potential of life occuring. dreamchick said that she thought abortion maybe justified if the mother's life was at stake...but i think wouldn't a real mother put her life on the line if it meant another life could come into the world? A true mother would do anything for her child, even if it meant losing her life in the long run...
My mother is diabetic, and when she was pregnant with me, she was having complications and the doctors told her that abortion was the only way out. They said that if she went thru with the pregnancy, that she might get severly hurt and I could be born with sever defects, both mental and physical...at first my mom was discouraged, but she decided (after prayer lol) to go ahead with the pregnancy. I was completely healthy and i have no mental dysfunction...in fact, i was the total opposite of what the doctors said i would be...all the people ive touched (who by the way have also changed my life) so far in my life; if i never existed, i think what would life be like? some people would say, "Well, you wouldn't have existed, so wuts the point in even thinking about it?" i forgot the name of the story, but i remember a story of someone who wanted to runaway, and angels or ghosts or someone showed him how life would be if he never existed...Just put yourself in that guys position. Think how life would be if you never existed...think if ur mom chose to abort u. How would things around YOU change?
