What is your personal opinion or view on gay or generally just homosexual people? and do you think that they should be able to adopt kids like Rosie O'donell(sp.?) did? and lastly, do you think that they should be able to have legal marriages?
Thanks,
Tamara
Tamara although I feel you post a good topic to discuss the question "What is your personal opinion or view on gay or generally just homosexual people" is like asking what do you think of black people? People are people no matter what. No one should be treated differently based on race, creed, sexual orientation, religion, etc. etc. I don't feel that a LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered) person is any different. People deserve their human rights I feel this is inluding the right to love and be happy. In our constitution we are entitled to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"..why then do we deny it to so many?

Hey
I agree with MacSuxHansonRules. Whether the person is gay, lesbian, black, asian, whatever, they are still people and deserve to be treated like the rest of us. I heard about these people who hated this man just because he was gay, so they got him out in the woods and killed him because of it. That stuff really has to stop, and I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think it will.
I don't know about them adopting kids though. Because the kid, as he/she gets older, will probably be made fun of by other kids because their parents are gay and won't be very happy. I guess they should be able to adopt kids, if they are willing to try and keep the kid from going through things like that.
I think they should be able to have legal marraiges, too. Because they are people, and if they love each other, they should be able to get married, like straight people. I don't have anything against that, and I don't think many people could think of even one reason why gays and lesbians shouldn't be able to get married

I agree absolutely that everybody should be treated as equals. Nobody is ever greater than or less than the person next to them.
Adopting children: why shouldn't anyone be allowed to adopt kids? Alright, meybe if they do drugs, or are unfit to be a parent, but sexual orientation? That has nothing to do with someone's ability to love or care for a child. Yes,Twizzler, meybe they will be made fun of for their parents, but we teach children not to do that. And any parent (straight or otherwise) will be there to help the child overcome these obstacles.
As for marriages, same thing: Anybody's entitled to be married if they fall in love with someone. It shouldn't matter who they fall in love with. Unfortunately, some churches see things differently, and I disagree with their perspectives. I also disagree with the govornment not allowing legal same-sex marriages. It's in direct contradiction with our rights that they are supposed to protect.
Years ago people thought that mixed marriages should not have children because they may be made fun of. Many people do not think a person with disabilities should have children for that same reason. I believe that's absurd. People are ignorant and intolerant and in order to change these peoples mind we have to lead by example. By not allowing certain people to have or adopt children we are telling society its okay to think that they shouldn't and that we should ridicule or persecute those who do. I for one do not believe that our society should hold the right to do that. Discrimination should be illegal in all forms.
MacSuxHansonRules, I just read your first response to my question and I just wanted to apologize if what I said came out wrong. Seriously I totally agree with what all of you are saying. I truly believe that (as you all had pointed out) all people deserve the right to live normally, and to take that away from the start from a being that has some "controversial" issues, is completely unjust. I agree absolutely that gay people should have all the rights as we do. For, why should they be treated any different from us who have so many problems ourselves. I hate saying it like that in terms of they and us. But to get my point across I guess I have to. Although don't get me wrong, I honestly do mean it when I say that discrimination in any possible sort of way toward another human being should be completely unacceptable, unjust or immoral. Instead what we do need to do is try and make them feel accepted within the society and not try and make their lives miserable by not allowing them to live independent or free of choice lives. Just leave them alone. For, there are too many other imperative problems out there to deal with, then going on and on about a type of people that only wants to be allowed to live lives of happiness and satisfaction. Why would that be a problem? I don't know, I guess the congress or Parliament needs to evaluate their thinking and open up their minds, and allow all people to have equal rights, whether it comes to marriage or having children.
Bye and thanks,
Tamara
I disagree with MacSuxHansonRules...eurosoccer placed a valid question, and although its not politically correct, who cares? By the way, do I agree with what homosexuals are doing? no, I dont. Does that mean im homophobic or a bigot? Of course not. Do I have prejudices? Yes, I'll admit it, I have some, but everyone does. C'mon, really, no one's COMPLETELY prejudice-free. But other than that, I feel that homosexuals should not be able to adopt or have legal marriages. I have nothing against the people themselves, but homosexuality is not, how can I say this...correct or right? Liberals are pushing for homosexual relations because of anti-procreation nature of the relationship. No population increase, it must be good...we have solved over population! But seriously, even in nature everythings heterosexual...the birds, the bees, the frogs, the bugs, everything! I know many would dsagree with me, but that's what I think...and because it's a hard topic to explain why, I sound like I'm prejudice against them, but I'm not...I accept them just as much as the next person, there are just certain things that are just wrong...
