Anyone who's thinking that I might be having problems with my girlfriend because of the previous post should try actually taking the lesbian test. I guarentee that you're a lesbian. That test is rigged.

My connection speed in kps has somehow been reduced to a one-digit number.
This may be nothing new to some of you, but it's driving me insane. I've become weak in my addiction to high connection speeds.

Sherazard took the infamous lesbian test, and it turns out that she's a lesbian. She tried to persuade me otherwise, but I think she took the wrong approach:
Sherazard: I wouldn't sleep with Leila if she were the last woman alive!
Ooops.

What is it about rollover images?
I swear I could spend all day at Harlan's splash page, moving my mouse back and forth... and back and forth....

New design. I'm still stumbling around, trying to hit on the feeling of my log. We'll see if this turns out better, now that my text is no longer boxed up and obsessively centred.

I missed out on winning Bryan's Quote Contest. Again.
I'm feeling remarkably petty today.

Rule of Thumb: If "everyone" knows something, then I don't.
It's true. My general knowledge sucks. Outside of the areas I'm interested in, I know virtually nothing.
Example: If I mention Marie Antionette, the only thing she might have said which springs to your mind is probably something along the lines of: "then let them eat cake."
I did an assignment on Marie Antionette once. My sourcebooks had a slight oddity in that, as well as documenting things that Marie Antionette did, they all documented something which she did not do; ie, say: "then let them eat cake." They went out of their way to point out that she hadn't said that.
I was baffled. It made as much sense to me as a comment like: "I didn't cut off all my hair yesterday with a pair of blue scissors while listening to Britteny Spears on the radio," dropped into a normal conversation. I didn't realise that there was a popular impression to the effect that she had said "then let them eat cake" which the books were refuting. So it just sounded weird.
Worse yet, when I later mentioned in passing to my brother that I had done an assignment on Marie Antionette, he said: "Oh. Let them eat cake, huh?"
I said: "What?"
And after that, he wouldn't believe that I'd actually done the assignment, even although I knew (know) far more about the French Revolution than him. Because the Cake aspect was all he knew of the subject, and he wouldn't believe I knew anything of the subject if I hadn't even heard that quote.
I don't know what I do about this. Should I try learning things outside of my areas of interest? How can I do so in any case?

The begining of the end.
It has been suggested that a quantum computer would be capable of cracking any code at all, no mattter what, in less time than the lifespan of the universe (a reasonable period, therefore. For those who don't know, problems tend to be solvable either within a human lifetime or not within the projected lifespan of the universe, and seldom in any timeframe bettween these extremes). The existance of such technology, the ability to break any code, will inevitably lead to the downfall of civilisation, and I hope I don't have to explain why. We're all doomed.
